This 3D wooden train puzzle is something special. Especially for anyone who loves trains! Even more so for someone who love steam engines as well. It is fairly easy to assemble and looks good painted or not. I guess that's a matter of personal preference. But I believe what is most important during the assembly is to make sure that all of the gears in the assembly are lightly sanded and waxed. Just take your time and enjoy the process of building this beautiful replica of a steam engine. I can't stress enough how important it is to lightly sand all of the gear assembly. If not, you will be disappointed in the end. I actually lightly sanded all of the parts to make assembly of the entire train go more smoothly. A great Birthday or Christmas gift!

The individual pieces were clearly marked ABC and d on different boards and things were very easy to find had a lot of fun putting them together I'm 80.

This is a spring driven wooden locomotive kit . It does Not include a tender, but just the locomotive. The directions are ok, not a booklet, but rather a large sheet with color illustrations Wax is not included but you need wax to coat some of the gears . A candle works fine.
